Border Safari to the Three-Country Cairn

Border Safari to the Three-Country Cairn
Border of Finland, Norway & Sweden

Off the Beaten Path: Discover the Three-Country Cairn in Kilpisjärvi

If you're in search of an off-the-beaten-track experience in Arctic Lapland, how about embarking on a journey to the northernmost tripoint in the world? The borders of Finland, Norway, and Sweden come together at the Three-Country Cairn, which is conveniently accessible from the village of Kilpisjärvi. Our excursion spans approximately 2 hours.

Cross Frozen Lake Kilpisjärvi in Comfort

Situated within the wilderness, the tripoint is not reachable by road, but that's part of its charm. It lies on the fringes of the Malla Nature Reserve, the oldest protected area in Finland.

During our tour, you'll embark on a picturesque journey across the frozen expanse of Lake Kilpisjärvi, all while enjoying the comfort of a snowmobile passenger sled. As you traverse the Arctic landscapes, we'll make a couple of stops along the way, allowing you to stretch your legs and soak in the surroundings.

Three Countries and Two Time Zones at the Three-Country Cairn

Our excursion includes a break at the border marker, where you are free to wander on the territories of each country. Here, there are no border patrols or passport controls. As you circumnavigate the cairn, you'll traverse three countries and two time zones, all within the span of a minute! It's a truly unique experience in the heart of the Arctic wilderness.
