The Tundra Experience: Unparalleled Landscapes and Ambiance of the Authentic Arctic Wilderness

Nestled on the edge of the expansive Käsivarsi Wilderness in northwestern Lapland, the village of Kilpisjärvi offers a gateway to this remarkable region. The safest and most accessible way to explore the pristine wilderness is in the capable hands of a professional guide. Here, the sweeping panoramas and the serene remoteness combine to create an experience like no other. Our excursion spans approximately 4 hours.

Discover the Vast Expanse of Käsivarsi Wilderness

Käsivarsi Wilderness is Lapland's largest tundra region, where the presence of motorized vehicles is restricted to snowmobiles operated by locals and authorized guides. You'll find yourself comfortably seated in the guide's snowmobile passenger sled, allowing you to relish the journey and the Arctic vistas as your guide skillfully navigates the terrain.

As you leave the village behind, you'll gradually ascend above the tree line. The trail meanders across barren landscapes that seem to stretch endlessly. Along the way, you might have the chance to spot reindeer herd grazing on their winter pasture, witness a dog musher training their team, or observe snowmobilers embarking on their day's adventure.

Ice Fishing in Käsivarsi Wilderness

During the expedition, you'll have the opportunity to try your hand at ice fishing, with all necessary equipment and guidance provided by your guide. If fishing isn't your preference, simply relax and savor the Arctic vistas and the tranquil ambiance, capturing the moments with your camera.

Feeling Hungry?

A day spent in the great outdoors tends to work up an appetite, and our guide is ready to serve you a tasty picnic lunch in a wilderness shelter. Enjoy a scrumptious filled sandwich, a roasted sausage, a freshly baked pastry, and warm non-alcoholic beverages, all while surrounded by the serene beauty of the Arctic wilderness.
