The Siberian huskies of Kilpisjärvi

Meet the Kilpisjärvi Husky Team! Siberian huskies are friendly and they adore pulling a sled – that’s their hobby and that’s their work!

The duration of this trip approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The Husky sledding experience is organized from December 1 to April 30. Weather conditions allowing we will start already in late November and continue until early May.

Our husky family welcomes you for a ride

Siberian huskies have been our personal hobby for over two decades now. Our present husky family was started by Ajatar Miss Tundra, also known as "Missi" and we now have five of her offspring in our team. Brothers Nalle and Nekku were born in August 2018 and sisters Talvikki and Tuisku in March 2015. Their father is Mr. Peni, Missi's grandson, and their mother is Maya, who was adopted by us in 2014. Peni's adopted brothers Pyry and Sulo complete our husky family.

Husky sledding experience in Kilpisjärvi

Our husky team is primarily a hobby for us but we organize sledding experiences for visitors during the winter season. 

Siberian huskies are friendly and curious by nature and they love nothing better than taking people on sled rides. Join us and get acquainted with these lovely dogs, learn to "mush" the team and enjoy the stunning scenery of Kilpisjärvi.

Learn to be a husky musher in Kilpisjärvi

On our tour you and your party can learn how to be a ”husky musher”. Meet us and the huskies on the lake shore. We will teach you how to control the sled – and soon after you're off, “mushing” the husky team, heading towards the Swedish shore.

The others in your party will follow you by snowmobile, seated comfortably in the snowmobile passenger sled while the guide drives. As a musher you are on your own with the huskies, each person in your party taking his or her turn. A youngster can be seated in the husky sled while the parent drives (kindly note that the age limit is 10 years).

At the turn-around point we'll have a break, and you have a chance to get acquainted with each husky. A hot berry juice is served during the break and husky stories are told.

The ride lasts approximately one hour and 1 – 4 persons can be accommodated at a time. We arrange max. 2 rides per day so make your booking well in advance.
