You’ll ride across the frozen Lake Kilpisjärvi and into the snow-covered wilderness, guided by an experienced local. You may choose between:
Driving your own snowmobile (self-drive option), or
Travelling as a passenger in the guide’s snowmobile sledge
This private experience is ideal for couples, families (please observe the child age limit of 10 years) or small groups of friends. It’s also a great choice for first-time snowmobilers who may feel nervous about joining shared group tours.
We keep the group size intimate for safety and enjoyment:
Up to 4 persons may participate on self-drive snowmobiles (2 persons sharing one snowmobile and taking turns in driving and being seated as a passenger)
Additionally, up to 6 persons can join as passengers in the guide’s sledge.

Before Departure Towards the Three-Country Cairn
The tour begins at the lakeshore in Kilpisjärvi village. Before setting off, your guide will give a clear and comprehensive introduction to snowmobile driving and safety. If you're sharing a snowmobile, you'll take turns driving and riding as a passenger, with the possibility for the non-driver to ride in the guide’s sled and enjoy the scenery.
Across the Frozen Lake Kilpisjärvi to the Edge of Three Nations
You’ll ride across the vast frozen surface of Lake Kilpisjärvi toward the border point, nestled just outside the Malla Nature Reserve, which is Finland’s oldest protected nature area. A couple of scenic stops will be made along the way, offering time to take in the stunning Arctic landscape.
At the destination, you'll explore this truly special place where three countries and two time zones meet – no border checks, just pure wilderness.
