River rafting in the borderland between Finland and Sweden
Looking for outdoor fun during your Kilpisjärvi holiday? Join us for a rafting trip on Könkämäeno, the border river between Finland and Sweden. During this half-day excursion you'll experience the thrill of river rapids which are gentle and therefore suitable for first-timers.
The duration of this trip is 4 hours. The trip is carried out from July 1 until August 31, weather conditions allowing.
One trip, two countries
The excursion starts in Saarikoski, which is located 30 km south of Kilpisjärvi. The rafting route is about 10 km long, zigzagging between Finland and Sweden, passing several easy and a few a bit more challenging rapids en route.
You'll be comfortably seated in a rubber raft, paddling together with your licenced skipper guide. The stretches of still water will be crossed with the aid of the outboard engine. This is a perfect way to enjoy Lapland's nature, its fresh air and clear waters and the scenery of two countires.
Campfire picnic
Upon landing at the finish line a campfire picnic is served: Finnish-style coffee, prepared in a big black pot on open fire, roasted sausages, filled sandwiches and homemade pastries are on the menu.
